Around the Son Preschool aligns our curriculum with Foundations: Early Learning Standards for North Carolina Preschoolers and with the NC School Readiness Goals. We are pleased to announce that in the 2012-2013 school year we will also implement the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum.

The children are provided with a wide range of developmentally appropriate experiences to include music, science, early math, early literacy, social science, language enrichment, art, sensory activities, creative movement, dramatic play, cooking activities, and computer.

Our early learning standards and strategies will provide the opportunity for each child to grow:

  • to explore and appreciate God’s world through his/her school, family and friends
  • to celebrate him/herself as God’s unique creation

  • to begin to share and interact with others
  • to work as part of a group
  • to learn to take turns
  • to listen and respond
  • to cooperate with and respect peers, teachers, property and self

  • to begin to share and interact with others
  • to work as part of a group
  • to express feelings in an acceptable way
  • to gain independence, self control and patience

  • to gather information and explore the world around him/her
  • to question and reason
  • to learn age appropriate skills
  • to learn and follow rules and routines
  • to learn to make choices

  • to develop large and small muscle skills, coordination, and control
  • to assume responsibility for his/her daily needs

In 2012, Around the Son Preschool was selected as best preschool by the readers of WNC Parent Magazine.
